From 1st October 2026, the UK Government will apply a new tax to all vaping products containing e-liquid. This tax applies to:
Prefilled pods and cartridges
Prefilled vape kits
E-liquid bottles (including zero-nicotine shortfills)
Important: All products will require a mandatory HMRC duty stamp on their packaging from October 2026.
How Will Prices Change?
The new duty is volume-based at 22p per ml. Here are some examples of how this will affect common products:

Important Dates to Remember

Applications Open
UK manufacturers and importers can begin applying to join the HMRC Vaping Products Duty and Duty Stamps scheme.
2026
Duty Begins
All products manufactured and imported in the UK must have a duty stamp and be taxed under the new system. Prices will increase from this date.

Grace Period
A 6-month grace period allows retailers to sell off any pre-existing stock that isn't tax stamped.
2027
Full Enforcement
All products on sale in the UK must be stamped.
What This Means for You
Higher Costs
Vaping products will cost more from October 2026. E-liquids will see the biggest increase (up to 75%), while prefilled pods will have smaller increases (around 18%). Plan your budget accordingly.
Look for Duty Stamps
